El Sewedy Cables is an Egypt-based industrial conglomerate engaged in the manufacture of power cables, transformers, terminators, joint accessories, copper and aluminum terminators, in addition to polyvinyl chloride production. It is also engaged in designing, building, managing, operating and maintaining power generation units and power nets. It acts as an umbrella company for several direct subsidiaries, such as Egyptian Company for Advanced Industries, United Metals Co, Arab Cables Co, Sedplast Co, Egytec Cables Co, United Industries Co, El Sewedy Electric Co, United Wires Co, and Egyplast Co and further indirect daughter companies, including El Sewedy Cables-Syria, Sudanese Egyptian Electric, Giyad Cables Co, El Sewedy Cables-Algeria, El Sewedy Cables-Qatar, among others. In 2008, El Sewedy Cables announced that it has acquired Iakraemeco-Slovenia, a company which provides devices and systems for electric energy measuring, registration and billing.
