Michael Joseph

Michael Joseph is CEO of the most profitable publicly traded company in East Africa, Safaricom Limited.  He has held this portfolio since July 2000 when the company was re-launched as a joint-venture with Telkom Kenya. He has extensive international experience in the implementation and operation of large wireless and wire-line networks.

Since the re-launch of Safaricom in October 2000 he guided the company from a subscriber base of fewer than 20,000 to 14,022,262 as of July 22nd 2009, including the launch of many innovative products and services such as M-Pesa over the past 9 years.  Today, Safaricom is one of the leading companies in East Africa and once again is the most profitable company in the region.

Michael Joesph has been the recipient of many awards, including CEO of the Year and Company of the Year. Mr. Joseph has a B. Sc. (cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and is a member of the I.E.E.E. and I.E.E. (U.K.).
